The Modern Shaker Kitchen

The Shakers were a religious movement founded in the late 18th Century in New York State and were famous for their clean and profoundly simple furniture. The look we have created is simple in essence, and lends itself to to a simple overall scheme in keeping with the Shaker way.

This particular kitchen was made for a family who live in one of the beautiful houses on the Fonthill Estate. The Fowlers wanted their kitchen to look 'old fashioned' with an air of understairs or utilitarian living. This kitchen has achieved a real feeling of authenticity, by keeping the original pantry style floor tiles and the scrubbed oak table and benches, it feels as if it has been there for years.

"Our new Guild Anderson kitchen has just experienced its first Christmas, handling eighteen family friends, including twelve children. Although not a large space, the new design and superior quality of the kitchen absolutely made catering for and entertaining a large bunch really simple and even fun for the cook! I cannot imagine life without it."
