Green Policy

At Guild Anderson we recognise that our work may have a direct or indirect effect on the environment. We are therefore committed to reducing any harm that this may cause.

Our green policy is to constantly look for ways in which we can improve our green credentials. We operate our business in an as environmentally friendly way as we can, in the following ways.

  • We use FSC timber and boards whenever possible
  • Our solid wood waste is used either in our own stove or sold for charity (the Red Cross). The shavings are collected by our landlord who burns it in various wood fired heating systems around the Fonthill Estate.
  • We use water based paint wherever possible, however, as our products have a very long lifespan, we feel that the use of 2 pack paint and lacquers because of its longevity, has less impact on the environment.
  • We use recycled paper.
  • We minimise our use of paper. Our company information is available on the Internet and where possible we use e-mail to reduce the amount of paper used in hard-copy correspondence.
  • Our marketing information is printed with vegetable based inks using the waterless, environmentally friendly process, on recycled paper.
  • All of our waste paper and cardboard is collected for recycling
  • We take care not to waste energy. Our modern workshop building needs little heating in the winter, and no lighting in the summer. We use signage to remind staff to turn off lights when leaving a room, and we turn off our computers at night and use the stand-by mode during the day where appropriate.
  • We recycle our old computers, mobile phones and printer cartridges.
  • We repair rather then throw away where we can. Some of our machinery is over 25 years old.
  • We encourage our customers to choose energy efficient appliances and lighting.
  • We limit the location of our customer base to reduce the need for transport and its impacts on the environment.
