This bespoke panelled pantry was designed by Guild Anderson for a new building designed by the architect Ben Pentreath. Modern building methods can often leave a space feeling pin sharp and soulless, and our design team was commissioned to create a pantry which felt more appropriate in a period setting.
The pantry is located just off the principle kitchen on the north side of the building, and, despite the glazed door we introduced, lacks daylight. In order to give the space a mood enhancing lift, we agreed with the client to introduce some sunshine back into the space by way of Paint & Paper Library’s Pollen II, a rich deep traditional yellow with both beauty and punch.
Open hardwood shelves are stocked with delicious provisions, while quartz counter tops help keep perishable items cool.
A false wall was introduced to the room, into which we discreetly housed a bank of integrated Sub Zero appliances (a wine cooler, refrigerator and freezer drawer).
To add contrast to the bold painted pantry, we have selected honed Darcrest worktops by Caeserstone, while under the counter we have introduced a fabric skirt by Warner House to soften the cabinetry.
Above the worktops, the room is lined with robust hardwood shelves supported on brackets. The team at Owl Lighting in Hampshire helped with the discreet spot lighting which we have recessed into the shelves, while Original BTC porcelain wall lights compliment the space beautifully.
Below the worktop are selection of drawers, base cabinets and open cabinets.
