Lauren left school considering Interior Design as a chosen career, but instead of finishing the course she enrolled on, she joined a local interior designer in an administrative role. Lauren found she loved the creative world of interior design but was coming to the conclusion that admin was perhaps not her thing.
In the event, she was lucky to find a maternity cover role with a local cabinet maker. Initially employed once again as an admin assistant. However they recognised she was capable of much more, and she soon became involved in designing bespoke kitchens, cabinetry and furniture. As her role developed she was managing the whole process from design, technical and service drawings, client communication, through to quoting and liaising with both the site manager and interior designers. Having now found her forte, Lauren stayed in that role for 4 years gaining invaluable experience in all aspects of bespoke design and cabinet making.
Lauren joined Guild Anderson in 2018 as Furniture Designer. A similar role to her last job, but with noticeable differences. “Guild Anderson is extremely organised. The design process is planned, methodical, with an enormous amount of time given to attention to detail. The thought process involved in creating bespoke cabinetry for Guild Anderson’s clients is both challenging and unique.”
In 2021 Lauren was promoted to Senior Furniture Designer. An important role which now sees her managing the design team. She takes the initial sketches through to a design plan, a 3D render, and quote for each project. Lauren and her team may have to re-work these plans several times throughout the design process, ensuring that the design drawings can then be produced.
In addition to her main role Lauren is a member of of Guild Anderson’s “Operations Board”. A team created to manage the day-to-day running of each project, made up of senior members of the workshop, project management and design teams. They oversee every project, ensuring each one is efficient, ironing out any issues, meeting each week to discuss each minute detail.
Lauren is a natural fit with Guild Anderson. She is calm and measured yet passionate about design and her role within the company. When asked what she loves most about her job; “I enjoy the new challenge of managing; seeing a design from initial concept being realised, then visiting site to see the finished design in situ, its very satisfying.”
A lover of clean lines, with an industrial contemporary aesthetic. She is extremely grateful for all the opportunities she has been given. If she hadn’t taken the plunge to leave her first Interior Design role she would never have considered Furniture Design. “I love working for a luxury bespoke brand, the quality of the work Guild Anderson produces, and the experience I have gained, and the recognition I have received.”
This month we celebrate Lauren being at Guild Anderson for 4 years; we are thrilled that she is such an important part of our team!
