While we may refer to the kitchen as the “Heart of the Home”; the laundry room or utility room must surely be the the “Engine Room”. If space allows; one should consider it equally as importrant as the kitchen in terms of functionality. They can be Zen-like spaces for bringing order to a house and life in general.
Sometimes overlooked as an afterthought, once the budget has been apportioned to creating a dream kitchen; the laundry room is the quiet dependable oasis that makes everything else work.
Housing the appliances that can take up space in your kitchen, they allow for a more open plan kitchen-diner and family living space without all the practical noisy equipment.
As laundry rooms are often more compact spaces; there is even more emphasis on bespoke design that allows for efficient areas for washing, folding, ironing as well as storing cleaning equipment, ironing boards, vacuum cleaners. Piles of laundry can look untidy so the right storage is vital for creating a streamlined tidy space.

Carrying the same kitchen cabinetry style through to any one of these spaces creates a cohesive streamlined aesthetic and sense of calm throughout.
Cabinet styles can tie the whole scheme together; but to create a point of difference opt for a change to the colour scheme in these ante-rooms, allowing each new zone its own character and mood. Be brave with colour; bold and bright; cool and calm; or dark and moody. Glazed partition doors can allow the room to feel separate, but not cut off from the kitchen, making it more of an enticing and appealing place to be.
