Trewithen

September. 2021

Guild Anderson are delighted to be featured in the October 2021 issue of The World of Interiors magazine.

The article features Trewithen House in Cornwall, a granite architectural gem.  This beautiful Grade-1 listed Palladian family seat has been passed down through nearly 10 generations and is considered one of the most elegant examples of eighteenth century architecture in Cornwall.

Sam Galsworthy, co-founder of Sipsmith Gin, and his wife Kitty, are now the latest generation of the family to be custodians of Trewithen, and have spent two years carefully transforming it in to a home more aligned with modern family life.

Sam and Kitty enlisted the help of many specialists in their fields to help with the sensitive restoration of Trewithen; interior designers Salvesen Graham and proudly Guild Anderson who were commissioned to design and make the bespoke kitchen, lobby and bar.  The aim being to furnish the rooms rather than make them feel that they were full of kitchen cabinets.

The china display cabinets sitting either side of an external door were part of a panelled lobby space cleverly designed to conceal the fridges and larders behind elegant panelling; leading your eye into the garden beyond.

The kitchen island is a completely free standing table with exquisitely turned legs painted in Little Greene’s gloss “Invisible Green”.  It magically conceals an integrated Sub-Zero&Wolf warming drawer.  The top was carefully chosen from native elm and crafted from just two boards.

It was a pleasure to work with such a fantastic team in such an historic building.
