We always welcome the commissions we receive for bespoke kitchen design in Marlborough. Who wouldn’t enjoy all that the prettiest market town in rural north-east Wiltshire has to offer? It’s popularity as a country town in which to relocate is no surprise; located just 20 minutes south of the M4 motorway, it is a mere 1 hour and 50 minutes drive to central London. Although it has lost its train station, Pewsey, Bedwyn and Swindon are all only 6-12 miles away.
Close to the Oxfordshire and Berkshire borders it nestles in the Kennet Valley, surrounded by The North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and on the edge of the Savernake Forest. The first written record of Marlborough dates from the Domesday Book in 1087. Among Marlborough’s many claims to fame is the mysterious Merlin’s Mound which can be found within the grounds of Marlborough College, and is the reputed burial place of the wizard Merlin. The Princess of Wales also attended this famous college.
Home to a twice weekly market, Marlborough High Street is one of the widest in the UK and lined on both sides with characterful old buildings housing an array of high quality shops. It has been ranked as the second best place to shop in UK!
Also situated on the hight street is the The Merchant’s House one of the finest 17th century middle-class homes in England, now run as a museum. It has been painstakingly restored and houses fine examples of magnificent oak staircase, wood carving and oak panelling; all a great source of inspiration for the Guild Anderson kitchen design team.
As the popularity of Marlborough has grown, so Guild Anderson has witnessed its clients relocating to this town to capitalise on all it has to offer. Our bespoke design commissions in Marlborough and the surrounding villages have increased with clients ever more looking to extend and update their period country homes for modern family life.
Our projects have included bespoke kitchens in Georgian country houses, boot room designs, and hand painted walk-in pantries. Alongside this we have been commissioned to design furniture for pool houses as well as more modest ancillary kitchens for additional accommodation.
