Walk-In Pantry

When we were commissioned to design a kitchen and contemporary walk-in pantry for an urban property on the edge of London, it allowed us to marry traditional craftsmanship with a more modern setting. We took time getting to know our clients, allowing us to understand who they are and how they live.
The bespoke kitchen is located in what used to be the garage, now rebuilt as a large kitchen extension. It is filled with natural light and the design used a soft paired back Scandinavian aesthetic. To allow the main kitchen to remain as calm as possible a walk-in pantry was designed to alleviate the day to day clutter and offer a second preparation and storage area.

A Combination of Storage
Hand painted under-counter cabinets have been designed to sit alongside chunky painted open wall shelves housing all manor of ingredients that are easy to reach.
This winning combination of storage options allows a flexible approach to housing small appliances alongside store cupboard essentials.
A large Butler’s sink makes the room work harder as a back kitchen when entertaining large groups.
An under counter curtain in blue gingham contrasts beautifully with the yellow painted cabinets in Little Greene Yellow-Pink.

Contemporary Styling & A Bold Use of Colour
As a point of difference to the calm neutral tones used throughout the main kitchen this room is fun, colourful and functional.
The pop of mustard yellow is playful, while the portrait format of the white metro tiles give a retro vibe, and a nod to the calm Nordic aesthetic found throughout the main space.
Gingham fabric’s classic checkered pattern adds and additional touch of nostalgia and charm while the blind at the window is a more traditional floral tat picks out the fresh blue and yellow colour scheme.

Sub-Zero
At one end of this room the entire wall is filled by a substantial Sub-Zero Refrigerator, Freezer and Wine Cooler.
An American brand gaining popularity in the UK; Sub-Zero refrigerators offer superior quality and aesthetics along with classic style, bold designer options and professional food preservation.
This feature wall gives our clients an enormous amount of temperature controlled storage away from the calm elegance in the main kitchen, again allowing this space to become more than a walk-in pantry; its a modern take on a traditional scullery or back-kitchen.
